The Thing About Three

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

In art, there's the rule of thirds which helps to guide artists in the creation of their masterpieces.

In writing, the rule of three is often used as an effective strategy to make the reader enjoy the content more than other numbers would.

In life you often hear that "good things come in threes".

Well, my life is no different. In case you, my lovely readers, haven't noticed, I have been on a short hiatus from blogging as my family expanded from having one child to two... and then to THREE in a very short - and slightly unplanned - period of time. Now, a mother of a 4.5 year old, 2 year old, AND a 1 year old, I have been given the ability to fully appreciate the truth behind these rules of three that have been floating around for what seems like time-eternity.

Needless to say, I have been on a fast track learning curve when it comes to time management, organization, and life planning. I have had to reach out to as many people and utilize as many resources as possible in order to successfully accomplish my goal of having a functional family and living space with a seemingly sudden family of five. Books like Marie Kondo's The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing as well as, more locally, Emilio and Samantha's A Recipe for an Extraordinary Life: Organization, Minimalism, Self-care (Use the code: 3THINGS when purchasing and receive 15% off!)* have been invaluable references. Funny - or clever - enough, readers can see the rule of three playing out in their suggested strategies as well.

I have to say that, with the help of some fabulous people and amazing resources, I have made leaps and bounds in discovering how to live my best life in a family of five. There's a lot to learn when family expands quickly and unplanned. Going from one to three kids in the span of 14 months really gets the gears going! I don't know how #twinmoms (plus) do it!?! My three children have not only given me full insight to what it might be like inside a tornado but they've also given me love, wisdom, and inspiration to make this life all that it can be.

I hope that my subsequent posts - fair warning, there will be more! - find you all well and that they may enlighten you, as my littles have done me over the last year or two.

If you have any questions or comments about some of the strategies I've learned during my expansion time, please leave a comment below and I will connect shortly!

*Being a strong advocate for the growth and vivacity of our local community, you will find that I have become affiliated with a number of organizations mentioned in this and subsequent posts. This will give them more traffic and help them to grow. It also gives YOU more incentive, through discounts and deals - who doesn't love a deal!? - to experience, shop, and trust in local businesses and to be a part in their growth as well. Let's all work together to make our community thrive!
